How 4D works
You choose any number from 0000 to 9999 and a bet type. Each draw produces 23 winning numbers: a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize, ten Special (Starter) prizes and ten Consolation prizes. If your number matches one of the prizes your bet covers, you win a fixed amount per ringgit staked.
In Peninsular Malaysia, the draws come from the three long-established operators: Magnum 4D, Da Ma Cai and Sports Toto. East Malaysia has its own draws, and Singapore runs 4D as well. Draws usually take place on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday, with special Tuesday draws added a few times a year. The UCS9 4D lobby shows which draws it accepts and the cut-off time for each one.
Big bet or Small bet?
A Big bet covers all 23 prize positions but pays less for the top three. A Small bet covers only the top three prizes but pays more for each. This is the standard Malaysian prize table per RM1:
| Prize | Numbers drawn | Big bet pays | Small bet pays |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st | 1 | RM2,500 | RM3,500 |
| 2nd | 1 | RM1,000 | RM2,000 |
| 3rd | 1 | RM500 | RM1,000 |
| Special (Starter) | 10 | RM180 | No prize |
| Consolation | 10 | RM60 | No prize |
Prize tables can differ between draws and operators, so check the table in the UCS9 4D lobby before you buy.
The real odds of 4D
There are 10,000 possible numbers, and each prize position is drawn from them. That gives the following chances for a single straight number in one draw:
- 1st prize: 1 in 10,000.
- Any prize with a Big bet: 23 in 10,000, about 1 in 435.
- Any prize with a Small bet: 3 in 10,000, about 1 in 3,333.
What that means for your money
Multiply each prize by its chance and add them up. A RM1 Big bet returns about RM0.64 on average, and a RM1 Small bet about RM0.65. In other words, around 35 sen of every ringgit stays with the house. Compare that with a slot at 96% RTP, where about 4 sen per ringgit is kept. 4D is a game of hope and habit, not a way to grow money.
No number is "due" and no number is "hot". Every number has exactly the same chance in every draw, whether it came out last week or has not appeared for years.
Box, iBox and Roll bets
If you like a number but do not care about the order of its digits, you can cover its permutations. How many there are depends on repeated digits:
| Number pattern | Example | Permutations |
|---|---|---|
| All four digits different | 1234 | 24 |
| One pair | 1123 | 12 |
| Two pairs | 1122 | 6 |
| Three the same | 1112 | 4 |
| Four the same | 1111 | 1 |
- Box: you place your full stake on every permutation. RM1 Box on 1234 costs RM24, and any permutation that wins pays the full RM1 prize.
- iBox: your stake is divided across the permutations. RM1 iBox on 1234 costs RM1, and a winning permutation pays 1/24 of the RM1 prize, so a Big 1st prize would pay about RM104.
- Roll: one position becomes "any digit", for example 123R, which covers 1230 to 1239 and costs ten times the stake.
The UCS9 4D top-up bonus
As listed on the UCS9 promotion page in September 2026, 4D deposits of exactly RM20, RM50 or RM100 receive extra credit: RM20 becomes RM23, RM50 becomes RM58 and RM100 becomes RM117 to play. Only those three amounts qualify, and the credit is for 4D only. If you usually spend a fixed amount on 4D each week, matching it to one of those deposit sizes is a simple way to get more tickets for the same money.
Keeping 4D a small habit
- Set a fixed weekly 4D amount that you would happily spend on a meal out.
- Do not increase your stake because a "dream number" or "lucky car plate" feels certain.
- Never borrow money for 4D or buy extra tickets to win back a previous week.

Questions players ask
Can I buy 4D online at UCS9?
Yes. Log in at www.ucs9.com and open the 4D section. It lists the draws you can bet on, the prize table and the cut-off time for each draw.
What is the difference between Big and Small in 4D?
Big covers all 23 prizes with lower top-prize payouts. Small covers only the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes but pays more for each, for example RM3,500 instead of RM2,500 for 1st prize per RM1.
What is iBox in 4D?
iBox spreads one stake across every permutation of your number. It costs the same as a straight bet, but a win pays only a fraction of the prize, based on the number of permutations.
How does the UCS9 4D bonus work?
Deposit exactly RM20, RM50 or RM100 for 4D and receive RM23, RM58 or RM117 to play. The bonus is only for 4D and only for those amounts.
What are the odds of winning 4D first prize?
1 in 10,000 for a single straight number in one draw. A Big bet has about a 1 in 435 chance of winning any of the 23 prizes.
