Four formats, one price
- Decimal: the total return per 1 unit staked, including the stake. 1.95 means RM100 returns RM195.
- Hong Kong (HK): the profit per 1 unit staked. It is always decimal minus 1, so 1.95 decimal is 0.95 HK.
- Malay: shows positive numbers up to 1.00 for favourites and near-even prices, and negative numbers for underdogs.
- Indo: shows negative numbers for favourites and positive numbers of 1.00 or more for underdogs.

The formulas behind the table:
- HK = decimal - 1
- Malay = decimal - 1 when decimal is 2.00 or less; otherwise -1 ÷ (decimal - 1)
- Indo = decimal - 1 when decimal is 2.00 or more; otherwise -1 ÷ (decimal - 1)
Negative Malay odds, explained with ringgit
Negative Malay odds are the ones that confuse most new players. With a negative price, the amount you enter is what you win, and the amount you risk is smaller.
- Positive 0.90: bet RM100. Win and you profit RM90. Lose and you lose RM100.
- Negative -0.80: bet RM100. Win and you profit RM100. Lose and you lose only RM80.
That -0.80 price is the same as 2.25 in decimal: risking RM80 to make RM100 means a total return of RM180 on RM80, or 2.25 per ringgit.
If Malay odds feel unnatural, switch the UCS9 sportsbook to decimal in its settings. The prices are identical; only the display changes.
Turning odds into probability
Every price contains an estimate of how likely the outcome is. Take 1 and divide it by the decimal price: 2.00 gives 50%, 1.40 gives 71.4%, 4.00 gives 25%. That number is called the implied probability.
Spotting the bookmaker's margin
Total the implied probabilities across all outcomes of one market. In a fair market they would total exactly 100%. In practice they total more, and the extra is the margin.
- Handicap priced 1.92 / 1.92: 52.1% + 52.1% = 104.2%. The margin is about 4%, so the payout rate is about 96%.
- 1X2 at 2.10 / 3.40 / 3.60: 47.6% + 29.4% + 27.8% = 104.8%.
Asian handicap and over/under markets usually carry lower margins than 1X2, correct score or outright markets, which is one reason they are so popular in Malaysia.
Why odds move
- Team news: a missing striker or goalkeeper can shift a handicap by a quarter goal or more.
- Weight of money: heavy betting on one side pushes its price down.
- In-play events: goals, red cards and even sustained pressure change live prices within seconds.
A line that moves from -0.5 to -0.75 tells you the market now rates the favourite more highly. Following those moves is a good way to learn how the market reads a match.
What "value" means
A bet has value when your honest estimate of the chance is higher than the implied probability. If you believe a team wins 55% of the time and the price is 2.00 (50%), the expected result is +10 sen per ringgit: 0.55 × RM1 won minus 0.45 × RM1 lost. The hard part is that honest estimates are difficult, and most people overrate the teams they support. Keep records, compare your estimates with results and be sceptical of any bet that feels like a sure thing.

Questions players ask
What are Malay odds?
Malay odds are the default format in many Asian sportsbooks, including SBO. Positive values show your profit per ringgit risked; negative values mean you risk less than you stand to win.
How do I convert Malay odds to decimal?
For positive Malay odds, add 1: 0.90 becomes 1.90. For negative Malay odds, divide 1 by the number without its minus sign and add 1: -0.80 becomes 1 + 1.25 = 2.25.
What does implied probability mean?
It is the chance of an outcome that a price suggests, calculated as 1 divided by the decimal odds. A price of 2.50 implies 40%.
Which odds format should I use at UCS9?
Use whichever you read most comfortably. Decimal is easiest for comparing prices and calculating parlays; Malay is the SBO default.
